Did you know you could do that?
Well, we would not blame you if you didn’t because it is one of the new features on Facebook. We have to be aware that all these digital marketing platforms are ever-changing. They have thousands of staff going to work each day only to make certain changes and improvements to their websites, and we the consumers, shall be forever be introduced to new features in these websites. But all these changes are meant to make our lives easier as consumers, otherwise if it is difficult to understand and use, we will stop, and they will not be useful to us.
So, let us talk about this new feature on Facebook. The millennials think Facebook is for the old, and the old do not use much of Instagram. But for marketing, both these channels are useful, and Instagram seems to be gaining ground as a good place for marketers to advertise, especially if their target audience is the millenials. The millennials spend a lot! And they are a significant audience not many brands can ignore. This explains why Instagram has become a preferred platform for marketers anywhere.
Therefore, for people who are used to the Facebook Business Pages and advertising platform, it shall be great news to be able to manage both these popular marketing and advertising platforms simultaneously. We will not need to make two separate sets of ads, and write copy, and upload them independently, saving us much time.
When we link our Facebook Business Page to our (already set-up) Instagram Business Page, we get to automatically post our ads and posts to Instagram when we post them on Facebook. This happens with any everyday posts, and also when we run ads on Facebook. Here are a few screenshots to see what it looks like.
To get to this page, simply go the “Settings” on your Facebook Page (on the right top), and then look at the left menu, you will see “Instagram”, click that and you will be guided through a few simple steps (just clicking buttons) as shown below:
Running Ads on Facebook Can Be Set To Run on Instagram Automatically
Many may not be aware of this feature that is available in the Facebook advertising plaform.
We remember having a few students in the millennials category who said that Facebook is for old people, and that they prefer to use Instagram – which is the evident truth out there. However, they were attending our Facebook Advertising & Copywriting Course which their loving mom enrolled them on (they were a pair of siblings). However, they were rather elated to find, when explained during the course, that they could also advertise on Instagram from the Facebook advertising platform. This means that our ads, when set-up and posted on Facebook, will automatically show up on Instagram. And yes of course, we do have an option to automatically run ads on Instagram from Facebook automatically or not, through a simple click of a button. So, if our products’ target audience is not on Instagram, then we can simply unclick that button.
But for everyday posts (that cost us no money), the more, the merrier! For marketing sake, and since it does not cost us any money, we should try to reach out as far as possible. Which makes linking our Facebook Pages to our Instagram Pages a pretty great idea.
UPDATES:
At the time of writing and publishing this article, we are simultaneously linking our Facebook Page to our Instagram Page to test it out, which we did. It did not work. Maybe it needs some time. But the strange thing is, when did the reverse, i.e., posted on Instagram (after linking both pages), the post automatically showed up on our Facebook Page.
So, give it a try for yourself, and see what happens. Leave us a comment below or on our Facebook Page to let us know your experience.
